Banshkathi rice is a lesser-known yet beloved rice variety, especially popular in Bangladesh and some regions of. It thrives in coastal or lowland environments and possesses unique traits that distinguish it from more famous types like Basmati or Swarna. Generally, Banshkathi rice features slender, medium-sized grains that are slightly longer than many non-aromatic varieties. Unlike fragrant rice such as Basmati, Banshkathi has a subtle aroma, which makes it suitable for both daily meals and special occasions.
Like other rice types, Banshkathi is an excellent source of carbohydrates, offering energy for daily activities. It provides slight amounts of protein and very little fat, making it a beneficial element of a healthy diet. As a traditional regional variety, it may preserve more of its natural nutrients, particularly when processed minimally.
